BUS ERROR...
« on: August 22, 2004, 03:51:57 am »
Hello

i have got a Engine from an Ford Mondeo (newest) it uses PWM.
i built a board with the ELM 320.
communication PC <=> ELM320 works fine..

if not connected to the car it says "NO DATA" when i send 0100

but connected to the car it always shows: BUS ERROR.

i had an Osszi connected, and found, that the SCP+ signal dont reaches 5V...
then i found, that the SCP+ line at the Car has only "180 OHM" to Ground!!!

could one please measure this.?

or any other ideas what could be wrong?

thanks!

draco,

AFAIK, Mondeo is ISO9141 or ISO14230.  What is the pinout?

Best regards,

hi,

it has pins 2,10 (PWM+/-; Ford Calls it SCP+/-)
7 (K-Line ISO)
6,14 (CAN +/-)
13 (Module programming line)

its a little confusing in the FORD-TIS, wich protocols internally are used,
because the instrument-cluster is connected to the ECU via:
PWM in Mexico-version,
and via CAN elsewhere  :-/

but both connectors are available in my car...

my problem is:
i built a Super 7 Replica (www.suheel.de)
and i need a MIL (because german TÜV)
because i dont want to install the original instrumentcluster
i planned to make a small PCB with the ELM and a MC.
so far, no problem.
but now.... as described, the PWM+ line has in the ECU 180 OHM to Ground...
do YOU think these PWM cabels woud be connected if they could not be used?
should i try ISO?
or any idea how to use CAN, like the original Instrument cluster?

thank you very much
Suheel

p.S: the Diagnose-Tool in the garage had problems, connectng to the car to... (hope, my ECU is not defekt)

hi,

got it working!

like described in http://www.scantool.net/forum/index.php?board=12;action=display;threadid=902

i disconnected the SCP+ Line and pulled the connector on the Interface-PCB wit 2.7K to 5 V (so that the ELM is able to recieve the signals @ SCP-)

it works fine..

Best Regards
