We are happy to announce our latest generation OBD simulator, the ECUsim 5100.

This simulator is radically different from its predecessors. It supports all OBD-II protocols in a single PIM:

• SAE J1850 PWM
• SAE J1850 VPW
• ISO 9141-2
• ISO 14230-4
• ISO 15765-4

Up to three PIMs can be installed, enabling the engineer to quickly switch between three preselected protocols.

The active protocol can be set by the user in software. Each PIM supports three virtual ECUs: ECM, TCM, and ABS.

OBD traffic monitoring is now supported for all protocols, and the unit supports several configuration commands.

Keeping the ECUsim 5100 up to date is easy via downloadable firmware upgrades.

New updates are available for OBDLink, OBDLink CI, and ScanTool.net software.

Firmware updates for OBDLink (v1.2.0) and OBDLink CI (v1.3.0) introduce some new functionality and fix two small bugs.

ScanTool.net v1.20 adds a dynamic COM port selector, support for the latest OBDLink and OBDLink CI firmware, and fixes problems related to Bluetooth COM ports and handles potential errors that may occur with ElmScan 5 Compact.

Surprisingly, there is relatively little information available on OBD and its applications, considering that it has been around since 1994, and today is present in the vast majority of vehicles. We'll try to help fill the void, by using the blog to share the things that we find interesting and exciting about OBD-II.

We just added a new product to our store: the Mazda Enhanced Add-On for ScanXL.
