Ford Focus 1.8 TDDi, 2000
« on: December 13, 2005, 11:40:42 AM »
Hi,

I bought ELM PWM Scaner (in Poland), it base on scantool interface, but it does not work with my Ford Focus. I check my car with the professional diagnostic computer and I recive information like below regarding ECU:
EOBD PWM C-(some code) Delphi

I check also pin-outs and I have pins: 2,4,5,7,10,13,16.

Is this car really not OBD-complaint? I tested with OBD-II ScanMaster Freeware and Scantool software.

Regards

Lukasz

Can you tell me what year and where the car sold by manufactory. (look for label under the hood or on door jab to find where the car is made).

I check the web pages elsewhere and the connection is PWM.

You will need to type the hard code. Please go to these web page http://www.scantool.net/support/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=25&nav=+%26gt%3B+%3Ca+href%3D%27index.php%3F_a%3Dknowledgebase%26_j%3Dsubcat%26_i%3D7%27%3ETroubleshooting%3C%2Fa%3E&PHPSESSID=aefe4eea26da37843fae83716ebaaa5a

Hope this help. If not, please reply back.

pozdrawiam

Well boys, I have no practise skills with Focus 1.8 TDDi, but I have Ford Escort 1.8i 16V (engine code RKC)  that have the same pinout Lukasz wrote.
Control unit of car is EEC-V, protocol Ford PWM J1850. I made diagnostic with ELM320 (see http://www.elmelectronics.com/DSheets/ELM320DS.pdf) and it works with ScanTool.Net software on notebook.

protocol Ford PWM SAE J1850 - this is only comunication network protocol,

SAE J1979 - Diagnostic Test Modes (OBDII) standart,
test mode values $00 - $0F and $40 - $4F are reserved to be defined in SAE J1979, which currently only
includes functionally addressed messages.

SAE J2190 - Enhanced Diagnostic Test Modes (OBDII) standart, .

I tested a UK 2003 TDDi. Yes it has PWM, no it is not OBD-II compliant.

Mirek, Can you please explain bit more, as I'm struggling with my ScanTool. I canít make it work with 1.8 TDDI. The hyperterminal wonít allow my to type anything. I have also tried a TDCI and thereís no problem in communication through the hyperterminal .
I would really appreciate your help. (I know, this thread is dead old but itís the only one I could find.)
